Call for Submissions
Last date: Oct 31, 2026

Essays/articles and translations of poetry from Sanskrit into English are invited for the Feature on Sanskrit Literature.

The submissions could also relate to religious texts and poetic excerpts from plays, etc. The submissions should be unpublished, original works. However, previously published translations that are seminal will be considered at the discretion of the editorial team. Please email features editor if this is the case. The feature seeks to promote contemporary translations of Sanskrit poetry and welcomes both period and contemporary language in translations. What we are looking for is innovative and creative work.

Essays/articles (with a word length of 1500–2500 words) are welcome on all aspects of Sanskrit Literature, from academics and scholars with a sound knowledge of English. We request that all essays be written in Standard English. Please use MLA for references. If you are intending to write articles/essays, please get in touch with me with an initial proposal. We are interested in articles on:

  • Sanskrit texts of all genres
  • Teaching of Sanskrit
  • Process of translation
  • Media/Film interpretations of Sanskrit texts
  • Dance/Drama interpretations of Sanskrit texts
  • Any other aspects in the interpretation of Sanskrit texts

Please title all submissions as ‘Submission Muse India Sanskrit Feature’. Authors submitting their work for consideration for publication in Muse India should be registered Members of the journal. If they are not already so, they should enrol as Members, and the Membership is free. Before submitting, please consult our Submission Guidelines given at: https://museindia.com/MuseIndia/submission, which also provides details for various other submissions.

If your submissions are accepted, we will get in touch with you as soon as possible. I am hoping to run a rolling submission, reading and decision.

The deadline for submissions is 31 Oct 2026.
