Focus and scope
Started and run by a group of writers, Muse India is a literary e-journal with the primary objective of showcasing Indian writings in English and in English translation to a broad-based global readership. The journal publishes both creative and critical writing and offers a wide range of literary forms—poetry, short fiction, essays, conversations with writers, book reviews and the like. Muse India is a peer reviewed journal for literary articles.
Muse India invites works that meet the broad objectives of the journal from both experienced and young writers. From authors, both Indian and non-Indian, it welcomes contributions that focus mainly on India. However, we occasionally publish other contributions as well. These can be works originally written in English or translated into English from Indian languages. For details see the link 'Submissions'.
Frequency of Publication
Muse India is a bi-monthly journal available only on the web, and has no print version.
Your Space is a special feature to allow readers to post their work or opinion online with very little intervention of editors. This is to encourage readers, particularly the young, to give expression to their creative urges. This will also serve as an interactive forum where readers can respond to the works of other readers. Postings in Your Space can be done on any day.
Open Access Policy
Muse India provides open access to all its content to support greater global exchange of knowledge. The free access policy, we believe, will benefit both the writer as well as the reader. While it affords a larger, global exposure for an author’s work, it will bring to a discerning reader the rich and varied literatures of India. Contents of the journal may, however, be used with proper attribution only for academic and non-commercial purposes. Copyright of a published work rests with the author.
Muse India is a free website available to discerning internet users, to provide them with easy access to the rich literatures of India and to Indian writings in English. However, readers are requested to formally register as members, free of cost, to be kept informed on release of new issues and other developments.
The opinions expressed in the articles and other content appearing in the journal are purely those of the authors and may in no way reflect the opinion of the Editors or Management of Muse India. Authors submitting their work for publication in Muse India are responsible for getting approval for any copyright material they may use in their articles. Muse India will not be held responsible for any infringement of copyright laws for the published content.
All general enquiries on the e-journal, membership, sponsorship of issues and donations may be addressed to the Managing Editor at email@example.com. Feedback on any aspect of Muse India can be sent using the facility provided in the site.
