As yet another year comes to an end, one winds down not just with one’s thoughts; wrapping them up into a big ball of memories to be stashed away in numerous cupboards that one has created over the years in one’s mind. One wonders to what extent and where have we arrived or are arriving at. The past seems to beckon us more towards itself and one has a tendency to lean more towards what had happened; or how things could have been. What we focus on are over the possibilities and the regrets. But then there are some who look back fondly at how things had been and are now like filament bulbs that will continue to glow brightly as one moves on and away.

But to what extent do we really move on? To what extent are we actually in the grips of a future? The present turns into an inconsistent being that walks delicately on a line demarcating the past from the present. People prefer to fall on either side of the line, mostly. As we wrap up yet another year here at Muse India, we look fondly at the numerous submissions that we have received over the year; mostly getting published here on our platform. These works are our lamps twinkling and removing the overall darkness that a year can possibly bring with it in unexpected ways. The future remains in the hands of you, dear contributors and readers. Continue to shine.

I invite you to read the poets who wrap this year up for Muse India’s Poetry Section and I hope the light that emits from their works lights up, however briefly, the paths of your lives.
