Muse India's Contributing Editor, Malayalam Literature
Poet and essayist, Thachom Poyil Rajeevan is based in Calicut, Kerala, India. He has published three books of poetry in Malayalam, viz., Vathil (The Door), Rashtratantram (Politics), and Koritharichanal (Excited Days); and two in English, viz., Kannaki and He Who was Gone Thus. He has also published a collection of essays in Malayalam on literary and cultural issues entitled Athe Akasam, Athe Bhoomi (The Same Sky, The Same Earth). His first book of travel writings in Malayalam, Purappettu Poya Vaku (In the Trail of the Missing Word), is to be released shortly.
In English, he writes under the name Thachom Poyil Rajeevan, and his English-language poetry is represented in various anthologies such as the The Promise of the Rest (UK), The Midnight's Grandchildren (Macedonia), The Green Dragon (South Africa), Bruised Memories (India), and The Brink: Postmodern Poetry from 65 to the Present (India). His poems have been translated into Italian, Macedonian, Bulgarian, Rumanian, Uzbek, Croatian, Hebrew, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Marathi. He contributes literary and cultural articles to many leading publications in English and Malayalam.
Rajeevan has participated in many literary programmes at national and international levels including the Struga Poetry Festival, Macedonia, Warsaw Poetry Festival, Poland, Zagreb Poetry Festival, Croatia, Sha’ar Poetry Festival, Tel Aviv, Isreal, and the Iowa Writing Programme, USA. He is also a recipient of International Visiting Programme Fellowship instituted by the US Department of States, and Iowa University’s degree of Honorary Fellow in Writing.
Presently, he is the Director of Monsoon Editions, an innovative venture in publishing and distribution from Kerala.
