Sanjukta Dasgupta

A scholar, poet, critic, translator and editor, Prof. Sanjukta Dasgupta is currently Dean, Faculty of Arts of Calcutta University. She teaches English and American literature along with New Literatures in English. Her numerous fellowships and grants over the years have constantly engaged her in studies, research and teaching at several universities in UK, USA and Australia. She has served (2002-05) as co-judge and thereafter as Chairperson for the Commonwealth Writers Prize (Eurasia region) and is now an e-member of the advisory committee of the Commonwealth Writers Prize, UK. She has been widely published in journals of distinction in India and abroad, and is the Managing Editor of FAMILIES: A Journal of Representations.

Prof. Dasgupta has just returned from State University of New York, Oswego, NYS, where she taught a summer course on postcolonial theory and literary criticism. A person of varied interests, she also writes on Women writings in India, Women and/in Indian Films, and Migration and Diaspora studies. 

She had been Muse India's Contributing Editor for Bengali Literature for a long time.
