Muse India's Contributing Editor for Gujarati Literature
Dileep Jhaveri (born 1943), Gujarati poet and playwright, has published Pandukavyo AneItar (1989), a collection of poems, and Vyaasochchvas, a play (2003), the latter translated into English as A Breath of Vyas. He has edited an anthology of contemporary Gujarati poetry in English translation called Breath Becoming a Word. His work has appeared in translation in several anthologies of Indian and Asian languages. The eminent poet Gabriel Rosenstock has translated his works into Irish. He has received the Critics Award (1989), Jayant Pathak Award for Poetry (1989), and the Gujarati SahityaParishad Award (1990). Invited to the Asian Poets' Conference in Korea in 1986 and Taiwan in 1995, he has also read his poems in Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and the USA. A professional general physician, Dileep Jhaveri serves on the editorial board of Kobita Review, a Kolkata-based bilingual journal, and is Muse India's contributing editor for Gujarati.
