Nitya Swaruba

For how long is beauty going to rule
this world of mine is taking a toll
seeing each day as it tumbles down
I fumble with life’s cruel manifolds
Every day I witness what I can’t see
with frequent whims of going blind
A flower I see, then I see it trampled
I salvage the nothingness left behind
In mountains of heaven I get buried
inexplicable feelings haunt each day
I crawl out into a world emptied
pieces from my soul break away
I live in moments memorable
withering away through time
I don’t fall easy, but when I do
joy and sorrow begin to rhyme
Can’t shut my eyes and wipe it off
this mind and heart will always bring
fantasies and fears in things I love
I remain beautifully entwined in.
(My thoughts on what's happening around and how I feel about how the things I love are affected by the sheer normality of the world)

a reclaimed heart
coming to me
becoming mine or not
just being there
free in soul and body
thoughts running happy
not trapped in
the world’s mapping
of life as it should be
When I close my eyes
I want to see you
just you
this is one possibility
in another
I lose my memory
the long-term kind
nonetheless I realize
I’d still find you
in my heart
for I won’t be losing my mind.

I am right here, you are here too
fantasy of mine has come true
I float in dreams and wake sighing
you make me soar, I am flying
every moment with you I spend
has meaning more than ever meant
our love's gravity defying
you make me soar, I am flying
my every word has your presence
you are my soul's very essence
we make love a thing undying
you make me soar, I am flying
(This style of repeating the fourth line in every stanza is called a Kyrielle)

Optimism is a given
in this prism I live in
thoughts go wild
I fly high, but get this
I don't miss
the chance to forgive
romance this life
pretty nice
how things turn up
I'm a grownup,
I need to own up
the things I say
I gaze into them
the possibilities
I faze the realm
of negativity
I'm no blinker
a positive thinker
breathes inside me
I create surprises
when crisis presents
my mind tends
to reach for answers
at every glance
no pessimism I find
I don't listen to
the devil's dark mind
I stand here
with my divine
I will shine through
my thoughts
creative, positive
forever true.
(This is written as a rap)

sitting here hugging my knees
watching a world tumble down
seeing the life and lush of a tree
losing its roots from underground
it gave me shade from burning light
but lit my heart from the inside
all the chaos keeps me out of sight
in its swirly branches my love resides
all its leaves now ruffled by storm
ripples of a laughter long gone
my tree of life, I won’t let it fall
sitting under it where I belong
I add words to its broken songs
