A book of tributes to Dr Kalam released on Sep 29, 2015
The groundswell of goodwill generated by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and the spate of tributes to him continue unabated. As part of this fervour, a collection of articles on him Salam to You Dr Kalam – A Bouquet of Tributes, by twenty intellectuals was released at a well-attended function in the Conference Hall of Ravindra Bharati, Hyderabad on Sep 29, 2015. The eminent contributors to the 110-pages book include among others – RVR Chandra Sekhara Rao (former Vice Chancellor, University of Hyderabad), Prof GRS Rao, Prof G Haragopal, Dr Jayaprakash Narayan, Dr TH Chowdary and senior journalist K Ramachandra Murthy. Overall, the articles in the book cover a wide spectrum of Dr Kalam’s life, work, vision and philosophy.
The chief guest S Madhusudhana Chary, Speaker of the Telangana Assembly launched the book Salam to You Dr Kalam and duly felicitated the contributors who also briefly spoke about Dr Kalam.
The galaxy of guests of honour were Dr KV Ramanachary (Advisor to the government of Telangana); Allam Narayana (Chairman, Telangana Press Academy); Prof Sunaina Singh (Vice Chancellor, EFLU); NVS Reddy (Director, Hyderabad Metro Rail); and K Srinivas (Editor, Andhra Jyothy).
Five other books also were released on the occasion. They were Rasoktulu, Naa Sampaadakeeyaalu, Straight from the Heart, Bhaavaalu Bangaaraalu, Naa Sahitya Vyaasaalu penned by Dr V Kondal Rao. Each of the guests of honour unveiled them.
The chief guest and the guests of honour reminisced the greatness of Dr Kalam and praised Dr V Kondal Rao for his indefatigable and creativity energy even at 84. Dr Kondal Rao said he had a strong urge to be original in the selection and writing of themes for his books.
The event was enlivened by a cultural melange ably performed by the students of Vivekananda Residential School, Karimnagar. They danced to a melodious tune on Telangana; to the Telugu version of Saare jahase achchaa (translated by Dr V Kondal Rao); enacted Batakamma; performed a mime on Save Water; and staged a ballet on Dasaavataaraalu.
The event took place under the aegis of the Inter-Lingual Literary & Cultural Society of Hyderabad of which Dr V Kondal Rao is the president.
