12 Jun 2017: Jnan Pith laureate Dr C Narayana Reddy no more

Jnan Pith laureate, versatile litterateur, academic, and renowned cine lyricist Dr C NARAYANA REDDY (Jul 29, 1931 - Jun 12, 2017) who strode like a colossus on the Telugu literary vista has left for heavenly abode, plunging us all in a daze and bequeathing the posterity a huge and unique literary legacy to ruminate and draw on for a long time to come. Personages like him are immortal by virtue of their monumental work. Muse India – which had already announced on Jan 25, 2017 to bring out a special feature on his life and work (under the editorship of Darbhasayanam Srinivasacharya) in its Sep-Oct 2017 issue – had been hoping that the literary stalwart would witness the issue and bless Muse India. Now the announced feature would serve as comprehensive homage to him. Muse India had covered Dr Narayana Reddy in a special Focus on Telugu Literature in its Nov-Dec 2011 issue. Dr C Narayana Reddy, also popular as CiNaRe, would always have his pride of place in the field of Telugu letters. A recipient Padma Bhushan, he also served as a Rajya Sabha MP in the nominated category. Muse India pays respectful homage to the literary star, and conveys condolences to his bereaved family.
