27 Jun 2016: Neelam Saxena Chandra’s poetry books released

A book release function of two poetry collections of Neelam Saxena Chandra was held at Press Club of India on June 11, 2016 in the presence of DM Mulay, Addl. Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs and renowned writer; Chitra Mudgal, renowned author; and Sudarshan K Cherry, Founder, Authorspress. The books are poetry collections – one in Hindi titled Main Hawa ho gayi hun and the other in English titled Butterflies of Hope. The books have been published by Authorspress, a publishing venture with a missionary zeal founded by Sudarshan K Cherry.

Neelam Saxena Chandra is a renowned author, who writes in English as well as Hindi. She has written thirty three books which include novels, novella, short story collections, poetry collections and books for children. She is a record holder with Limca Book of Records for the year 2015 for being the author with highest number of publications in a year in English as well as Hindi. Also, she and her daughter, Simran Chandra, hold a record in Limca Book of Records for being the first mother-daughter pair to write a poetry book. She works as Joint Secretary, UPSC.  She has won several awards – in a poetry contest by American Embassy; Premchand award by Ministry of Railways; Rabindranath Tagore international poetry award; Freedom award by Radio city for her lyrics. She was listed in the Forbes list as one of the most popular seventy eight authors in the country in 2014.

The evening began with the book release of Main Hawa ho gayi hun, followed by Butterflies of Hope. After that, AC Simon ­­­­­­­­­rendered two ghazals written by Neelam from the book Main Hawa ho gayi hun. Pankaj Kumar Saxena, the painter of the cover pages of the poetry collections presented one of the paintings to DM Mulay, the Chief Guest of the evening. This was followed by Neelam reading out a few poems from her collections that touched the heart of the audience. The guests praised Neelam for her contribution to the world of literature. The Chief Guest, DM Mulay praised the amazing depth in Neelam’s poems. Chitra Mudgal was full of compliments for Neelam’s poems. The emcee for the evening was Ritu Bhatnagar.

An anthology titled Dil ke Aaine Se compiled by Neelam Saxena Chandra and edited by Parul Rastogi was also released on the occasion. The collection comprises poems by various women poets from all over the country such as Nisha Krishne, Yashodhara Singh, Dr Renu Mishra, Seema Shrivastava, Heena Priya, Richa Verma, Promilla Qazi, Meena Sood, Dr Deepika Garg, Archana Tiwari, Ruchi Chopra, Parul and Neelam. The cover page of the book is designed by Raksha Hegde.

All in all, it was a wonderful evening for poetry lovers.
