Dec 9: Writer Ghulam Nabi Nazir Kulgami mourned



Maraz Adbi Sangam (MAS) of south Kashmir held a condolence meet on Dec 9, 2015, at Yaripora (Kulgam district) to pay tributes to renowned poet and writer Ghulam Nabi Nazir Kulgami, who died on Dec 5, 2015 after a brief illness.

The meet was presided over by critic and folklore writer Ghulam Nabi Aatash. Speakers, including Ali Shaida, Izhar Mubashir, Ashraf Ravi, Reyaz Anznoo and G N Atish highlighted the literary contribution of Nazir Kulgami and felt that his death was a big loss to Kashmiri language and literature. Nazir Kulgami, a writer of about fifty books, would be remembered for ages, said Ajaz Ghulam Mohd (President, MAS). He announced that the MAS would bring out a special issue (Nazir Number) in memory of the late writer. A number of literary units of south Kashmir (Maraz) co-hosted the event.
